Lawrence V. Young is a shareholder at CGA Law Firm and currently chairs the firm’s Bankruptcy Department. He limits his practice to consumer bankruptcy matters as well as Chapter 11 and corporate reorganizations. He is certified as a Consumer Bankruptcy Specialist by the American Board of Certification, and is the only attorney in York and Adams Counties so certified.
In 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011, Larry was named as one of Pennsylvania's "SuperLawyers" by Philadelphia magazine and Law & Politics. Annually, these publications conduct a peer review survey and research to determine a ranking system, and the top 5% in their respective fields are honored; Larry was named for his consumer bankruptcy expertise.
Larry is currently a member of the Panel of Chapter 7 Trustees for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, having served as a Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 Trustee since 1978. Additionally, he served as Panel Chapter 13 Trustee for approximately 10 years. As aTrustee, Larry takes assignments from the U.S. Department of Justice to administer bankruptcy cases filed in York and Adams counties.
Larry has written and lectured on bankruptcy law topics for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, the Middle District Bankruptcy Bar Association, the York County Bar Association, as part of the business law program at York College of Pennsylvania, at the Widener School of Law, for the Pennsylvania Association of Tax Collectors, at the Third Circuit Judicial Conference, and to the Pennsylvania Magistrate District Judges.
He served a 6 year term on a Hearing Committee for the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania from 1999-2005, chairing the Committee in his final two years.
He is a past president of the Boards of the York County Bar Association, the York County Bar Foundation, the Middle District Bankruptcy Bar Association and Central Pennsylvania Legal Services. He has been an active member of the Pro Bono Committee of the Bar Association since 1993, serving as Committee Chair for much of that time. He has received awards for his pro bono contributions from both the York County and Pennsylvania Bar Associations.
